Critical Role Campaign 4 Reveals the Fighters Group

Since the launch of the fourth campaign, recently appointed game master Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept fans guessing with rich lore, a wide array of heroes, and a gripping narrative including celestial beings, evil spirits, and sinister influences growing in power within the city.

Note: Key plot points for Episode 3 of this adventure follow below.

The Soldiers Table Unveiled

The third episode concluded with a dramatic pause and revealed the initial group of heroes who will branch out from the central cast to undertake their separate journey, apart from the additional parties.

The Soldiers table features Teor Pridesire (played by the voice actor), Thimble (the talented performer), the strong-willed figure (the cast member), the cleric (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie Daymond).

The Reason for Division

With a large ensemble, it was obvious from the start that maintaining everyone at the same party would be unfeasible.

Hence, the opening chapters of this story serve as an Introduction, connecting the individual narratives before branching into three distinct groups: Soldiers, Planners, and Explorers.

What Defines the Combat Party

Per Brennan Lee Mulligan, the combat-focused party is for players who enjoy a traditionally charged battle-oriented gameplay experience where peaceful solutions are rare.

Initially, figures such as the squeamish cleric Wicander Halovar might look unsuited, but the developments of the third episode show why these five characters are best suited for the Soldiers table.

Reasons to Leave

First, the team has a clear idea where to head next after a intense opening clash with the antagonists.

An old friend of Thjazi—whose passing initiated the story’s plot—exploited The Crow Keepers for his personal gain, breaking into Thjazi’s hideout, attacking the rogue, and stealing all the magical artifacts to dispose of.

The antagonist then cleared his debts and escaped to a Halovar stronghouse in the remote area, above Dol-Makjar, with Cyd Pridesire hot on his heels.

Character Drivers

Additionally, each character has a specific drive to exit the metropolitan area:

  • Thimble, as the close ally and best friend, desires vengeance.
  • The knowledgeable figure knows Timmony and advises that it is a nasty location.
  • The strong character and Wicander, having disobeyed his house’s orders to kill the target and instead freed him, have no safe haven.
  • But, their status as key figures in the powerful family could assist the party access locations they normally couldn’t.
  • Furthermore, Teor vowed a life debt to The savior for his salvation and will now follow him wherever.

Wanted and Hunted

In addition, all of them are sought by the authorities that rule the setting for a variety of reasons, making remaining behind no longer safe:

  • Thimble and Kattigan are known criminals.
  • Tyranny and Wicander defied the influential house and the horde of evil beings they are partnered with.
  • Teor is wanted dead by the clan.

This results in them few options but to journey toward the remote area in pursuit of Casimir.

What’s Next?

Based on episode three’s Cooldown, we discover that the warrior group will be absent the following episode, leaving the remaining eight participants to form the Explorers and Schemers tables.

Fans can anticipate finding out which characters will be assigned to which table in the season’s final introductory chapter, streaming live on the upcoming Thursday.
